Formulated for flea control
All Vectra® vectoricides contain the active ingredient dinotefuran, a quick-kill insecticide with a unique mode of action. Unlike imidacloprid and other neonicotinoids currently used for flea control, dinotefuran binds to a unique site in the insect’s nerve synapse, causing continuous nerve stimulation and the death of the insect. Insects do not have to bite to die. Dinotefuran kills by contact.Discovered by researchers at Mitsui Chemicals, dinotefuran is based on acetycholine.
Over the last 10 years, fleas have developed tolerance to these older products based on nicotine, making them less effective in protecting pets from infestation and infection.
In numerous studies and clinics across the U.S., Vectra® vectoricides – containing dinotefuran – have killed fleas quickly and safely for a full 30 days between applications.
